We decided to join the ranks of LiveJournal, as many crafters can be found on LJ. Our main community is not on LJ, as we think LJ is much better suited to blogging than to community bases.
CW was founded by several Christian crafters who were tired of Christian crafting sites that were more appropriate to making Sunday school kids crafts than appealing to live crafters. We don't have anything against most Christian crafting sites, they just have their place, and it's not what we want to make on a normal basis.
Most of our membership are devoted fiber artists, especially knitting, and our knit and crochet forum sees a lot of activity. We also have a lot of interest in paper arts like scrapbooking and bookmaking, and one intrepid guy who likes to make chainmail. If you are male and like to craft, you are most certainly welcome at CW, although we are predominately female, as most of the crafting community seems to be.
Some of us are a little off the beaten path as far as 'traditional Christian' is concerned, and we also welcome those who do not consider themselves Christians or anyone that is interested as long as their posts are polite and decent.
Lately, we are investigating working with a charity, and want to not only craft for ourselves, but to help the larger community.
